WhatsApp for Android has been updated with a few handy new features, couple of which had been introduced on iOS a few weeks back.
WhatsApp’s latest update (v 2.12.367) brings starred messages, rich preview feature for Android phones. The popular messaging app now supports Bengali and Urdu as well.
Starred messages are among the most requested features for WhatsApp, and so the addition of the feature through the latest update will surely be appreciated. To star a message, users simply have to tap and hold on one of their messages in chat and select the star option. To remove the star from a message, users will only have to follow the same process and select the crossed star option.
This is WhatsApp’s version of a bookmark. To see starred messages, go to the Chats Tab, click on Menu and then the starred messages option.
The other new feature is rich link previews. The previews reveal significant amounts of information regarding the shared link without the user having to click on the link, but the feature takes up a lot of space on the screen. Users can choose to send link without rich previews, if they prefer.
Android M users will also get support for Android Direct share, which lets them quickly choose a specific chat when sharing content from other apps.
The update is now live on the Play Store.
