At the ongoing Mobile World Congress, Sony has announced the successor of its highly successful camera-phone. The new device is dubbed as Xperia Z2, which borrows it’s naming convention from its predecessor. Sony argues that this phone has the world’s best mobile camera, which can record 4K-resolution videos, which seems to be a growing trend in flagships.

The phone has a 20.7 MP Exmor CMOS sensor, an award-winning G Lens and a BIONZ mobile image processing engine which results into excellent image and video quality. Also, as mentioned above this phone will be able to record 4K resolution videos. Sony has also pre-installed some applications to accompany the camera on this phone. Some of them are Timeshift Video, AR Effect, Background DeFocus and Creative Effect. Plus, it’ll allow you to download more of the company’s hand-picked applications with an option within the camera. The phone also has a digital noise cancellation technology built-in, which along with the image-stabilization engine should make recording high-quality videos a breeze.

The phone boasts a 5.2-inch FullHD Triluminous IPS display, which is considered one of the best displays on a smartphone. The rest of the physique of the phone is borrowed from the previous flagships, so it continues the legacy of Sony’s flagship design. It’s worth noting that the phone is dustproof and waterproof as well. Inside the hood, the phone packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, which has four Krait cores running a 2.3GHz. The phone is bundled with 3GB of RAM, which is more than enough to keep your phone running smoothly. Also inside the phone is packaged a 3200mAh battery which will definitely last a day of regular usage. All of this and still the phone measures just 8.2mm in thickness. On the connectivity side, there’s the usual Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, etc. The phone supports 4G LTE and supports 4K playback via MHL. The phone weighs 163gm and it runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-box.
