OnePlus might be struggling to get its second phone into people’s hands, but that hasn’t stopped it from pressing ahead with another handset launch. OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei had already confirmed that a third phone is on the way, but now we have a date for the grand unveiling.
The phone is expected to be called the OnePlus X and media reports are also referring to the phone as the OnePlus Mini. The invite shows a lit-up ‘X’ hinting at the ‘OnePlus X’ name.
Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus is teasing a London event for a new handset. The teaser comes just days after a new OnePlus smartphone was spotted in filings with the Federal Communications Commission. OnePlus simply teases an event for October 29th with a giant X sign, but the recent FCC filings revealed a new OnePlus model with a 5.5-inch display. A few other, unexciting specs were confirmed in the process; a 1.9GHz processor and support for LTE, Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi and FM radios. Further details have reportedly leaked through an Amazon India listing, but we’ll let you decide if they’re trustworthy.
OnePlus has proven to produce good products but its sales experience particularly with the invite based system has been irksome to say the least. It remains to be seen if this product too will be sold through an invite or will the company adopt a more traditional strategy for it.
Stay tuned for more information regarding this…!!
