Motorola has unveiled the third-generation Moto G smartphone in the Indian market, bringing more competition to the already overcrowded segment. India is the first market receiving the new Moto G model.
The Motorola Moto G (Gen 3) is available in an 8GB inbuilt storage variant with 1GB of RAM priced at Rs. 11,999, and a 16GB model with 2GB of RAM priced at Rs. 12,999. Moto G 3rd gen goes up for sale at Tuesday midnight via exclusive online retail partner, Flipkart.
The third generation Moto G comes with a 5-inch HD display with a 1280×720 pixels resolution. The phone also has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protective covering on the front and runs on the 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor with 2GB RAM. The smartphone supports 4G network on both sim slots and microSD cards for storage expansion.
The phone is IPX7 certified for water resistance up to 3 feet of water and up to 30 minutes.
The 2015 Moto G comes with a 13MP rear camera with multilayer IR filter and f/2.0 aperture. The company says it has got the same sensor as in Google Nexus. There’s also a 5MP front facing camera with wide angle lens.
The phone runs stock Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box with zero bloatware, says the company. The battery capacity of the smartphone is 2,470mAh, which lasts 20% more than the second-generation Moto G’s 2,070mAh battery.
Among these software features are Moto Display and Quick Capture that have been seen in previous Motorola phones; a new feature is Chop Twice, which turns the flash on and off by doing karate chop in quick succession.
Launch offers on the Moto G 3rd gen, available till August 2, include Rs. 500 off on Flipkart Fashion on a minimum purchase of Rs. 1,000, 33 percent off on total Myntra bill value, free Airtel Wynk subscription for 6 months (2 months in non-4G circle), and Airtel Double Data offer for 6 months (2 months in non-4G circle). 100 lucky customers will get 100 percent cashback, while 100 lucky customers will get a Moto 360 for Rs. 1. The company also revealed exchange offers for Moto E and Moto G owners.
The new Moto G (Gen 3) comes in white and black colors, and the company is offering back covers in various colors as customization option.
