With the launch of iPhone 5S becoming news of the past, the iPad 5 is now becoming the victim of media scrutiny. Everyone is trying to figure out what apple has packed in the latest iteration of most popular tablet in the world. We all know the hoopla surrounding iPhone 5s and 5c in the past couple of weeks, but now it’s time for iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 to enjoy the lime light.
For those who don’t know, Touch ID is a fingerprint scanner embedded into apples latest smartphone. It allows you to unlock your phone by using your finger and verifying your identity during app store purchases. With new iPads due in the coming weeks, all attention has now turned to the possibility that Touch ID could be on the way to Apple’s tablet lineup.
A YouTube video reveals the front shell of the iPad 5. The hole for the home button is too small to accommodate the home button found in 5s/5c but allows the iPhone 5s to fit in. With the Touch ID Home button smaller than previous versions, the rumor that the iPad 5 will feature Touch ID just gained a little more credence.
Since iPad 5 takes design clues from its younger brother iPad mini, it’s quite possible that apple may reduce the size of the home button to match the smaller home button found in the current generation mini.
With Apple expected to announce new tablets before the month end, hopefully we won’t have too much longer to wait before we find out just what we’ll be buying in a few weeks.
