But most of you are skeptical about shelling out $100 on apple website. Well, registering for Apple developer program just for trying out the latest iteration of iOS, hmm NOT WORTH IT!
In the following post we tell you an easy way to upgrade to iOS 7 beta5/6. And yes, you heard me right, it’s for free!! There is no rocket science in upgrading to the latest beta and is surly a cakewalk to do. We utilise a flaw in apple software update system. So, without wasting any more time, Lets get started!!
Caution: – This technique works only if you are on the latest official firmware i.e. iOS 6.1.3/6.1.4 depending upon your iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad. We also recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of iTunes if you haven’t done that already. The direct links for t downloading iOS 7 beta are available on the link below. We don’t endorse the website in the link given below. http://techmell.net/apple-tips/download-ios-7-beta-6-free/
After upgrading your iPhone to latest iOS 6 firmware and downloading the iOS 7 beta software, follow the steps given below:
Step1: Connect your iPhone and fire up iTunes. We are warning you again, if it’s not updated to the latest version i.e. 11.0.4, please update your iTunes.
Step 2: Now select your iDevice in iTunes. You will see check for updates button. Mac users press the option key and select it. Windows users do the same but instead of the option key, press the Shift button. Please don’t click the system restore button, otherwise the process after completion will give you activation error.
Step 3: Now select the iOS 7 firmware from the location where you had saved it. Now iTunes will prompt you whether you want to update or not. Click on update. iTunes will now extract the software and verify the update with apple. Don’t worry! Since the process uses a security flaw, it will not verify with the server and will continue to install iOS 7.
Step 4: You will see the progress on your iDevice. The process will take a few minutes to complete. iTunes will install the latest firmware on your device. The progress and current status can also be seen in iTunes status bar. Wait for 2-5 minutes for the process to complete.
Step 5: After the device is restored it will restart again for a quick consolidation of files. After the process is done, you can set it up as a new iPhone or can also restore from previously saved backup. After finishing up with quick iPhone setup you can start using your iPhone.
If you are finding a problem in install iOS 7 beta 6 directly, you can first install iOS beta 5 and use OTA to upgrade it to beta 6. You can now use the visually overhauled elder brother of iOS 6.
We strongly recommend you to back up your iDevice before starting the process. Since this is beta software, you can expect a few bugs. We don’t take any responsibility for faults/errors occurring during the process.
